Iowa Credentialed Radon Mitigation Specialists

Iowa credentials radon mitigation specialists as individuals, not as companies. The state report generated July 16, 2026 lists 102 of them, working under 84 business names. Every name, credential number, business and town from that report is in the table below, with what the credential does and does not prove.

On the report the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services generated on July 16, 2026, 102 people held an Iowa radon mitigation credential, working under 84 business names, 85 of them based in 54 Iowa towns and 17 based in 6 other states. Each credential number belongs to a person rather than to a business, so the useful question to ask a company is which credentialed specialist will do your job.

The businesses below are independent companies drawn from Iowa Department of Health and Human Services public records, downloaded on 2026-08-23 from a report the department generated on July 16, 2026. They are not affiliated with this site, no endorsement is implied, and the order is the state report’s own alphabetical order rather than any judgment about quality. A credential proves the state’s requirements were met, and nothing more: it is not a review, a rating, or a promise about a particular job. Credentials also lapse and are issued between report dates, so treat this as a record with a date on it and confirm anything that matters with Iowa HHS.

Transcribed from Iowa HHS, Iowa Credentialed Radon Mitigation Specialists, report generated 2026-07-16, downloaded 2026-08-23. Names, business names and spellings are reproduced as the report prints them. The state report also prints street addresses and phone numbers, which are left out here because several are residential and a credential record is what this page is for.

Does Iowa credential the radon mitigation company or the specialist?

The specialist. Iowa HHS describes its radon program as approving applications from persons who wish to be credentialed to perform mitigation, and the state report lists people, each with an individual RNMIT credential number, next to the business they work under. Several businesses on the list carry more than one credentialed specialist and many carry exactly one. That is why "is your company credentialed" is the wrong question and "who will be on my job, and what is their credential number" is the right one. The wider rules that govern the work, including the credential requirement itself, sit in Iowa Administrative Code 641 chapter 44, which our guide to radon mitigation contractors walks through question by question.

How do I check a radon mitigation specialist against this list?

Get the person’s full name and credential number in writing, then match both. Filter the table by surname or by the business name on the quote. Iowa credential numbers on this report all begin with RNMIT. If the name is not here, that is a question rather than a verdict: credentials are issued and renewed between report dates, so ask the Iowa HHS radon program on (515) 281-4928, or check the current list on the Iowa HHS radon page, before deciding anything. Two entries on the July 16, 2026 report carry the same credential number, RNMIT10133, and both are reproduced here as published.

Measurement specialist or radon mitigation specialist?

They are two different Iowa credentials and two different published lists. Iowa HHS certifies measurement specialists to run tests and credentials mitigation specialists to install systems. On reports carrying the same July 16, 2026 generation date, the state listed 213 certified radon measurement specialists against the 102 credentialed mitigation specialists here. Someone may hold both, and holding one proves nothing about the other, which is why Iowa publishes the two lists apart. If you have not tested yet, start with radon testing companies and inspectors rather than with this list.

What does an Iowa radon mitigation specialist credential prove?

That the state’s requirements to hold it were met, and only that. Iowa HHS runs an application process for persons who want to be credentialed to perform mitigation, publishes a Radon Mitigation Specialist Credential Application Guide covering the initial training, the exam, the qualifications and the documents an application has to carry, and recognizes training and continuing education approved by the National Radon Proficiency Program and the National Radon Safety Board. What it is not: a review, a rating, a price, or a statement about any particular job. Treat it as the floor you start from rather than the decision, and read the rules the radon mitigation work itself has to meet in Iowa Administrative Code 641 chapter 44.

Where are Iowa radon mitigation specialists based?

Across 54 Iowa towns, from Des Moines and Cedar Rapids out to Marcus, Lamoni and Rock Valley, plus 17 specialists whose listed business address sits in one of 6 other states, most of them in Nebraska. An Iowa credential is what Iowa requires, not an Iowa address, so an out-of-state business on this list is credentialed on exactly the same terms. Coverage is not the same as proximity though, and a specialist listed in one town commonly works a wide radius, which is why the town column is a starting point rather than a service area. For the metro view, see radon mitigation in Des Moines, and for what the work runs, radon mitigation cost in Iowa.

How this radon mitigation specialist list was built

One source, transcribed whole. The Iowa HHS report "Iowa Credentialed Radon Mitigation Specialists" was downloaded on 2026-08-23 from the department’s radon page, and every record on its 15 pages is here. Four published fields are carried over: the specialist name, the credential number, the business name and the town and state. Street addresses, phone numbers and websites are on the state report and are deliberately left out of this one. Nothing was added, nothing was ranked, and no company was contacted. When the department publishes a newer report, this page gets rebuilt from it and the dates above change with it.

What it costs, and what happens after you send it

What does radon mitigation cost in Iowa?
A residential system runs roughly $800 to $2,500, with a median around $1,400. A standard sub-slab system for a basement home sits at the lower end, $800 to $1,800, while a crawl space or multi-area job runs $1,500 to $2,500. Those figures are published Iowa contractor pricing, market data for comparison rather than a quote or a price set by us. The Iowa cost guide breaks the figures out by system type and lists what moves a quote.
How fast will someone get back to me?
Your request goes to an independent local radon professional, usually within about an hour during the day. That professional then contacts you to look at the home and quote the work on their own schedule.
What work is covered?
Radon mitigation, radon testing, real estate radon testing, crawl space mitigation, system repair, and new-construction systems. See every service.

Only an independent radon professional who walks your home can price the actual job.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many credentialed radon mitigation specialists are there in Iowa?

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services report generated July 16, 2026 lists 102 credentialed radon mitigation specialists, working under 84 business names. 85 give an Iowa business address across 54 towns, and 17 give an address in one of 6 other states. The report is republished on this page in full and links back to the state original.

Does Iowa credential the radon mitigation company or the individual?

The individual. Iowa HHS states that its radon program approves applications for persons who wish to be credentialed to perform mitigation, and the state report lists people, each with their own credential number, alongside the business they work for. So the question that gets a useful answer is not whether a company is credentialed, it is which credentialed specialist will design and install the system and what that person’s credential number is.

How do I check that a radon mitigation specialist is credentialed in Iowa?

Ask for the person’s name and credential number, then match both against this table and against the Iowa HHS list it was transcribed from. The credential number starts with RNMIT. A name you cannot find may simply be newer than the July 16, 2026 report, so confirm anything that does not match with the Iowa HHS radon program before you sign.

Is a radon measurement specialist the same as a radon mitigation specialist?

No, and Iowa keeps them apart on purpose. Iowa HHS certifies measurement specialists to test and credentials mitigation specialists to install systems, and it publishes a separate list for each. The same July 16, 2026 report date carries 213 certified radon measurement specialists against 102 credentialed mitigation specialists. Someone can hold both, but holding one says nothing about the other.

Why are contractors from Nebraska and Wisconsin on an Iowa list?

An Iowa credential is what Iowa requires, not an Iowa address. 17 of the 102 specialists on the report give a business address outside Iowa, mostly in Nebraska. They hold the same Iowa credential as everyone else on the list.

How does someone become a credentialed radon mitigation specialist in Iowa?

Through the Iowa HHS radon program, which publishes a Radon Mitigation Specialist Credential Application Guide setting out the initial training, exam, qualification and document requirements, and which recognizes training and continuing education approved by the National Radon Proficiency Program and the National Radon Safety Board. The program can be reached at (515) 281-4928.

Does this page rank or recommend any radon mitigation company?

No. It reproduces a public state record in alphabetical order, with no rating, no score and no ordering that implies quality. Every business on it is independent, none is affiliated with this site, and nothing here is an endorsement.
